  • Acted for a shipowner in reviewing and amending charterparty document; advised in relation to various legal issues arising out of charterparty; specifically, concerning the shipowner’s right to legally terminate the charterparty. 
     
  • Assisted the charterers in a charterparty dispute with the owners of a vessel in relation to wrongful arrest of a sister ship and other ancillary issues arising under the same charterparty, including hire and redelivery of the vessel. Advised charterers on the merits of the owners’ claim and giving guidance on their settlement negotiations with the owners of the vessel on the basis of the merit.

  • Advised national oil company in respect of AHTS vessels and PSV contracted for several years in support of aborted drilling campaign, including successful challenge to English jurisdiction (CH Offshore Ltd v PDV Marina & Ors [2015] EWHC 595 (Comm).
     
  • Represented an FPSO Contractor and a P&I Club on recovery of umbilical and related claims following winch wire failure during installation.
     
  • Represented owners in an LMAA arbitration for a breach of charterparty in relation to unpaid invoices. This matter involved appeals to the English courts and enforcement actions in several locations around the world.
     
  • Advised a broker in relation to drafting and negotiating several commission agreements for charters involving specialist vessels.
     
  • Represented a charterer in an LMAA arbitration for a breach of charterparty in relation to the overconsumption of fuel.   
     
  • Advised Seacor Marine on the innovative joint venture with the world’s largest ship owner, COSCO Shipping Group, on COSCO’s first ever joint venture, the purchase of 10 PSVs from a COSCO shipyard and structured deferred payment terms.
     
  • Advised DVB on its financing by way of debt plus equity with share buyback arrangements for an offshore accommodation unit for Marine Assets Corporation. The vessel was an innovative design and was ordered on a speculative basis.
     
  • Advised on a joint venture with a Chinese conglomerate for servicing offshore wind farms in China.
     
  • Advised Seacor on its acquisition and financing of 11 vessels from the Pacific Richfield Marine group (which was in receivership).
     
  • Advised on a joint venture involving a leading Malaysian oilfield services provider in respect of a number of offshore support and subsea construction vessels for operation in the Caspian Sea, and their subsequent financing.
     
  • Advised a major offshore company on the structuring the acquisition of a dive support vessel from a yard in Singapore where the original purchaser had defaulted on the purchase.
     
  • Advised banks, owners and potential purchasers on insolvency and insolvency protection situations in respect of owners of offshore support vessels.
     
  • Advised a major offshore accommodation provider on renegotiating its acquisition of a fleet of semi-submersible accommodation units and their financing.
     
  • Advised and drafted contracts for Nigerian oil shipment project including shuttle charters and transfer to an FPSO for export.
     
  • Negotiated terms for long-term contract of affreightment for off-take shuttle tankers offloading cargoes from UK FPSO.
